A little place to hang out.

Nodz is a friendly, community-run chat. Pick a nickname, join a room and say hi – right in your browser.

No account needed to try it. No ads, no tracking.

How it works

  1. Pick a nickname

Choose any free name and you're in. Guest names are temporary, so someone else may take it while you're away.

  2. Join a room

Start in #lobby, browse the public rooms, or open your own room and invite friends.

  3. Make it yours

Create a free account to keep your name, own rooms that stay yours, and read recent history.

Public and private rooms

Public rooms are listed for everyone. Private rooms are hidden and invite-only, enforced by the server rather than just hidden in the app.

Your favourite IRC client works too

Nodz speaks IRC, an open chat protocol that's been around for decades. Prefer HexChat, irssi or WeeChat? Connect directly:

Honest about privacy

Your connection to Nodz is encrypted, but the server can read messages: nothing here is end-to-end encrypted yet. We tell you exactly what is stored and for how long.
